【Jane Doe】urayutakaが、あえてurayutakaとしての枠組みを外す試みとして、仮想の人物「Jane Doe」を設定。それぞれが異なる視点や表現方法を持つ「別の作家」として、urayutaka自身が制作を行っています。実在の自分と架空の作家、そのあいだに立つことで広がる自由な発想と、そこから生まれる意外な制約——。

現代社会におけるイメージの氾濫と、それに伴う「アイコン」の再解釈をテーマとしています。雑誌の表紙、映画のワンシーン、インターネットミーム、政治的象徴、ポップカルチャー、動物、ファッションなど、日常に溢れる視覚情報がコラージュ的に再構成され、それぞれが独自の物語を持ったアートピースとして昇華されています。

視覚文化に支配される現代において、私たちは何を見て、何に価値を見出しているのか？この作品群は、その問いを投げかけながら、「視ること」と「見せられること」の間にある矛盾と面白さを、ポップに、そしてアイロニカルに表現しています。

作品が透明な袋に封入されている形式は、商品化・流通・消費といった現代社会の構造を示唆しており、「アートが商品になる瞬間」をあえて見せています。

【Jane Doe】urayutaka has set up a virtual character “Jane Doe” as an attempt to venture outside the framework as urayutaka. urayutaka himself creates works as a “different artist” with different viewpoints and methods of expression. By standing in the space between his real self and a fictional artist, urayutaka's free ideas expand, and the unexpected restrictions that arise from them.

This body of work explores the overwhelming flood of images in contemporary society and the resulting reinterpretation of “icons.” Magazine covers, movie scenes, internet memes, political symbols, pop culture, animals, fashion—fragments of everyday visual information are reassembled in a collage-like manner, each piece transformed into an artwork with its own narrative.

In a world dominated by visual culture, what do we truly see? And what do we assign value to? These works pose that question while playfully and ironically expressing the contradictions and curiosities that exist between “seeing” and “being shown.”

The choice to encase each piece in a transparent bag hints at the structures of commodification, distribution, and consumption that define our contemporary society. It deliberately exposes the moment when art becomes a product.
